Our journey in creating the haven has not been easy to say the least and has taken a total of eleven years to plan, build and finally open. The land was purchased in 2000 and planning permission was finally granted through appeal in 2004, at which point construction began.
The site has been transformed from a baron field into the remarkable landscape it is today, boasting an array of large animal enclosures and visitor buildings. All enclosures have been custom designed and built to suit the inhabitant's needs and our first class facilities and disabled access has been highly commended by many of our visitors...
It has taken over six years to complete phase one of the project and it is true to say no expense or effort has been spared along the way. Don and Antony have carried out all the groundwork, construction and joinery themselves and needless to say with meticulous attention to detail.
We will continue to provide a safe enriched environment for primates and birds of prey through first class care and understanding.
Our expansion is already underway with plans to build further primate enclosures and bird aviaries for more animals in need of re homing. We always welcome new sponsors and donations to help us with this cause.
"The quality and attention to detail here, for both the animal occupants and visitors, is as good as you could find in any small to medium-sized collection in the U.K."
