We are fully aware of our obligation to not only protect the welfare of the animals but to also help protect and conserve our environment.
As an Island business we aim to become a self sustaining establishment and have implemented the following green initiatives throughout the park:
All timber used at the Haven has been sourced from sustainable forests.
Cedar shingles used on our roofs have superior thermal properties to prevent heat loss, thus saving energy.
The mulch used in the children's play area is made from 100% recycled aircraft tyres.
Various fruit and vegetables are grown around the park which contributes towards our primates diets.
Water butts placed around the park collect water which is used to sustain our vegetables and plant life.
We work with several national supermarkets to help promote waste recycling by recovering produce that by law is no longer suitable for human consumption but is perfectly edible and ideal for the Primates diets.
Our cardboard packaging is taken to a recycling depot on the Island.
As the Haven's expansion continues, so will our commitment in helping protect the environment.
"Charming. Left with a smile on my face."
